When using a conventional putting grip I believe the palms of your hands should be facing one another at address and square to the target line. If you have the palms facing at address, they naturally want to return to a square position as they swing into impact.

That means there is no manipulation required in order to return the putter squarely to the back of the ball, similar to clapping your hands. The palms naturally return to face each other; you don’t have to think about it.

If the palms aren’t facing at address, they tend to work independently, so one hand becomes more dominant than the other. That’s not good news, because it tends to throw the putter off its natural swinging arc.
