One of the most common mistakes is try and hit the driver too hard. This makes your swing quick and snatchy. By swinging slower it gives you more time to get your body and arm movement in harmony and you will generate more power.
Breathing is really important for getting good rhythm. You should fill your lungs with air before setting up the ball, but make sure you breathe out before you hit, because relaxed muscles work much more effectively than tense ones. You will get more speed this way and the ball will go further. Never hold your breath.
Remember, swinging slower gives you more time to get your body and arms in harmony, generating more power.
The turn up to the top of the swing should be gradual and smooth – like winding up a coil – before increasing the power through the downswing.
